Emma views good eating from a different angle; she is a nutrition coach driven by a love of assisting people. It’s not about deprivation, she says. “It’s about still enjoying food while yet fuelling your body with the correct nutrients.”
Her way of thinking centres on balance. Emma stresses portion management and wise decisions instead of excluding whole food categories. “You don’t have to give up your favourite snacks,” she says laughing. “It comes down to moderation. Have the chocolate but perhaps not the full bar.
Emma starts her day with a breakfast bursting in nutrients. Usually, I have a smoothie including Greek yoghurt, spinach, banana, and some oats. It keeps me energised and full, she says. She underlines especially the need of water. “Drinking enough water all through the day changes everything. It increases metabolism and helps you to avoid confusing hunger with thirst.
Emma said the secret is awareness. Pay close attention to your body. Eat when you are hungry; stop when you are full; and enjoy every mouthful, she counsels.
She also writes off the notion of “cheat meals.” “I designate them as “reward meals.” Food is not the enemy; if you savour a slice of pizza, you are not “cheating”. Balance is what life is about.
Her last piece of advice meal preparation. “Having good alternatives handy helps you avoid grabbing quick meals when hungry. It greatly simplifies your ability to stay on target.
